Code of Ethics for Youth Work (Adopted)
Adopted standard: Auckland Challenge has adopted the Code of Ethics for Youth Work in Aotearoa New Zealand (Second Edition), published by Ara Taiohi Inc. (Wellington, 2011; ISBN 978-0-473-18343-1), as the ethical standard governing its staff and volunteers’ youth work practice.

Structure
The Code is organised into five parts: Context (setting the scene for youth work ethics), Clauses (the substantive ethical standards), Applying Ethics (worked examples), References and Appendices, and a summary “At a Glance” section.
Core values
The Code centres four core youth work values: relationships, community, culture, and youth-centred practice. It sets standards intended to keep young people safe and to improve the quality of youth work practice, and was developed by the youth sector for the youth sector.
Application at Auckland Challenge
Staff, volunteers, and other professionals working with young people through Auckland Challenge’s programmes are expected to be familiar with, and to act in accordance with, this Code alongside Auckland Challenge’s own conduct, confidentiality, and safeguarding policies.
